One ERC1155 contract consolidating 32 Peperium meme cards, each of which was deployed as its own ERC20 through 2017.

Historical Significance

Peperium put Pepe trading cards on Ethereum, following the Rare Pepe series that had started on Bitcoin's Counterparty layer, and it is one of the clearest cases of meme culture being issued as contracts rather than as images. The one contract per card pattern it shares with Curio Cards was normal in 2017 and became a problem the moment collections were expected to behave like collections, which is exactly what this wrapper exists to fix.

Context

Compiled with solc 0.5.17 and verified on Sourcify as PeperiumWrapper, the same compiler as the Curio wrappers. No wrapper_of link is set, because the field holds one address and this contract wraps 32. Fifteen of those 32 cards are currently in the archive and documented; the rest are not yet indexed.

Description

Peperium issued its cards the way Curio Cards did, one contract per card, so a collection of them was a collection of separate tokens with nothing tying them together. This wrapper hardcodes 32 card addresses and issues an ERC1155 balance under a matching id for any of them, which finally lets the series be held and shown as one thing. It currently holds balances of 21 of the 32 it recognises. The cards it covers were deployed between April and October 2017 by three different addresses, with names like PEPERIUMCLASSIC, RUINSOFPEPE, GIGERPEPECITY and CRIMEANDPEPESHMENT.
