Gav Wood's dapp-bin multisig wallet, deployed on day two of Frontier with one owner, a zero confirmation threshold and a hundred million ether daily limit.
Historical Significance
The ethereum.org token tutorial is where most people who deployed a token in this period started, and this is its opening form: a balance mapping, a guarded subtraction and the metadata a wallet needs to show a name. It has no allowance, so nothing can spend on a holder's behalf and no exchange or escrow can be given a limit. That gap is exactly what ERC-20 was written to close, and copies like this one are the before picture.
Context
Deployed 8 August 2015, the second day of the Ethereum Frontier network.
Key Facts
Description
The wallet.sol from ethereum/dapp-bin, authored by Gav Wood: multiowned for the signature threshold, daylimit for the spending cap, and Wallet on top of both. execute sends a call straight out if the value is under the daily limit and otherwise files it as a pending transaction for the other owners to confirm; confirm runs a filed transaction once enough owners have signed; kill, changeOwner, addOwner, removeOwner, changeRequirement and setDailyLimit are all gated on the same confirmation count. The constructor arguments make this deployment a wallet in name only. The owner array holds a single address, 0x6919dd5e5dfb1afa404703b9faea8cee35d00d70, which is also the deployer and is therefore recorded twice, at owner slot 1 and again at slot 2. The required confirmation count is zero, and confirmAndCheck treats a pending count of zero as already satisfied, so the first call from an owner executes without any second signature. The daily limit is 1e26 wei, a hundred million ether, so underLimit never refuses. Compiled with the optimizer off.
