Description
Deed is the contract used by the original Ethereum Name Service Vickrey auction registrar to hold ETH deposits placed during .eth name auctions. Each bid created a separate Deed instance holding the locked ETH collateral until the auction resolved. The winner kept their Deed (holding the name deposit) while losing bidders reclaimed theirs. Over 420,000 Deed contracts were deployed between 2017 and 2019, representing every bid placed in the original ENS auction system before the migration to permanent registrar in 2020.
