A private copy of The DAO's factory, used once to create a single DAO.

Historical Significance

The DAO's code was published under a free licence, so the factory that stamps out new organisations was available to anyone who wanted one. These deployments are what that availability produced: the same governance machinery, redeployed by people with no connection to the original, in the weeks around the point where the original failed. The factory records what it built, which is how a DAO could prove it came from known code.

Context

Deployed on 22 June 2016, five days after the attack on The DAO began.

Description

This is the factory contract from The DAO's own codebase, which builds a DAO on request and records the ones it has built so that each can prove it came from a known creator. It is not the factory The DAO itself used. Six minutes after it went up its owner called it once, creating a single DAO, and it was never called again.
