An ERC-721 wrapper for Etheria v0.9 from October 2015, built to preserve the tiles' native actions while wrapped.

Historical Significance

Most wrappers treat the underlying asset as inert, holding it in custody and issuing a receipt. This one preserves the original contract's behaviour through the wrapper, which matters for Etheria because a tile is not only owned but farmed, named and offered. It is a more careful reading of what wrapping should mean for a contract that was a working world rather than a balance.

Context

Etheria was deployed in October 2015, before any NFT standard existed and well before the word was in use. Four Etheria contracts went live that month as the design was revised. By 2022 the collection had been rediscovered as one of the earliest examples of on-chain ownership of unique items, which created demand to trade it through infrastructure that only understood ERC-721.

Description

Etheria Wrapper v0pt9 was deployed on 27 March 2022 and wraps the Etheria v0.9 contract from 19 October 2015. Its verified source references that contract, and the wrapper's own token name records the same date.

Etheria predates ERC-721 by roughly three years and exposes its own vocabulary: farmTile, setName, setStatus, makeOffer and acceptOffer. Rather than freezing a wrapped tile, this contract mirrors those actions through the wrapper, with methods including setNameViaWrapper, setStatusViaWrapper, makeOfferViaWrapper and acceptOfferViaWrapper, so an owner keeps the ability to act on the tile while it is held as an ERC-721 token.
