The multisig wallet contract of the Ethereum Wallet dapp, put on mainnet by Fabian Vogelsteller on 20 August 2015.
Historical Significance
The code is the wallet contract that the Ethereum Wallet, later shipped inside Mist, deployed for its users, and the same multiowned and daylimit design was carried forward into the Parity multisig wallet. Compiled with v0.1.1+commit.6ff4cd6 with the optimizer on, it reproduces all 4505 bytes of the deployment transaction exactly, constructor arguments included.
Context
Deployed in block 115274 on 20 August 2015, three weeks after Frontier launched, from the first contract creation ever sent by this account. It was never called again and holds no ether, which fits a deployment made to exercise the dapp against mainnet rather than to hold funds. The wallet.sol it was built from had been sitting unchanged in meteor-dapp-wallet since 18 August, and was edited again the same evening, twelve hours after this deployment.
Key Facts
Description
A Wallet contract: a multi-signature, daily-limited account proxy. It combines three base contracts. multiowned holds a set of owners and requires a configurable number of them to confirm any protected operation. daylimit lets a single owner send up to a fixed amount of ether per day without confirmation from anyone else. multisig defines the events and the transaction record. Anything above the daily limit is held as a pending transaction until enough owners confirm it. The constructor set two owners, 0x9b22a80d5c7b3374a05b446081f97d0a34079e7f and 0xb1a2b43a7433dd150bb82227ed519cd6b142d382, a confirmation requirement of two, and a daily limit of 5 ether. The source is wallet.sol from the meteor-dapp-wallet repository, the Ethereum Wallet dapp built by Fabian Vogelsteller. The multiowned and daylimit base contracts were taken from the dapp-bin repository, and the source header keeps their author credit. The meteor-dapp-wallet copy diverges from the dapp-bin one: it authorises against tx.origin instead of msg.sender, folds the block number into each operation hash, and carries a version field set to 1.
